The Germans memorial
This memorial is located by the Lämsänkyläntie road on the Vanttajankangas isthmus on the shore of lake Kuusamojärvi. The memorial was erected in 1995. In these areas over 2000 German soldiers died.

”Die guten Glaubens waren. Zum Gedenken an die über 2000 Gefallenen der 6. SS–Geb. Div. Nord 1941–44. Ihre Ehre hiess Treue”
Translation
"They acted in good faith. In memory of the over 2000 soldiers of the 6th SS Mountain Division Nord who died in 1941-1944. Loyalty was their honour."

Kuusamo Statues and Monuments
The Kuusamo municipality has a total of twenty four statues and monuments. Most of them are about war history, but there are also some that are about significant people and events.
A Monument can be a decorated stone, a wooden, stony or metallic structure, or a simple mark like a metal plate or a carving on a rock.
