In the Oulankajoki river near the border of Salla is Taivalköngäs, and less than a kilometre from the Oulanka Visitor Centre, Kiutaköngäs cascades between red rock faces. The rapid has a fall of 14 metres along the length of slightly over 100 metres.
By the Kitkajoki river near the village of Juuma, the rapids Niskakoski, Myllykoski, Aallokkokoski and Jyrävä roar, Jyrävä being one of the largest waterfalls in Finland.

A Monument can be a decorated stone, a wooden, stony or metallic structure, or a simple mark like a metal plate or a carving on a rock.
