Restaurant Sokeri-Jussin kievari

Oulun matkailuneuvonta

The old storehouse has stood at its current location for about 150 years already. Having served as the machine workshop and storage for a shipyard as well as a boat supplies shop, the building was turned into a restaurant in 1995.

The name Sokeri-Jussi (”Johnny Sugar”) comes after a steamboat by the same name, built on the island by industry tycoon Johan Grunström’s commission. Grunström himself was given this nickname after he fell into a thousand-litre treacle container at his own factory. Today, the tavern serves good food in a traditional setting. Will you dare taste the local delicacy, rössypottu?
