Tietomaa was the first science centre in Finland. The science centre offers its visitors unforgettable experiences in science and technology and invites them to spend some time with mind-challenging puzzles. The main building of Science Centre Tietomaa used to be a steam power plant that belonged to the tannery of Brothers Åström from the 1860s until 1960. Construction of the 45-metre water tower known today as the Tietomaa Tower was completed in 1921, after a design by architect Birger Federley. Nowadays you can admire the Oulu skyline from the top floor of the tower. Science Centre Tietomaa is temporarily closed for renovations.
