Keskuskari

Kalajoki

The idyllic, fresh, and windy Keskuskari is an old base for the local fishermen.

It is a small island near the beach, nowadays connected to the mainland by a built-in road.

Before sunbathers, travelers or people on a vacation, the open beach was only being used by fishermen on their way to Keskuskari.

Originally there was nothing but the huts of the fishermen in Keskuskari, but later on summer cabins of the travelers started appearing on the island.

There is also a Mine Sweeper memorial at Keskuskari, put up in 2002.

Currently there are constructions going on for a small harbor and for tourist apartments in Keskuskari.
