An easy and barrier-free History Trail at Kuusamo town centre is a collection of stories about the origin of Kuusamo, the post-war destruction, the life of reconstruction workers in dugouts, and how the lost church bells were found from a grave.

Our interactive map will lead you to the trail of local history. The route will take you along the trail by Lake Kuusamojärvi to the Holy Cross Church and on to the legendary Four-Way Crossroads. The total length of the trail is approximately 2 km.

More content is available at the mainly sand-covered History Trail, where you will be guided by info boards and mobile content.

You will find a summary of the history of Kuusamo in the attached text files.
