An important part of industrial history in Kalajoki is the carpentry workshop by Toivo Ojala.
In 1939, Toivo Ojala opened a small carpentry workshop in Kalajoki, by the name of Tmi Toivo Ojalan Huonekaluliike (“Toivo Ojala’s furniture shop”). The original workshop was located where the current Topi-Keittiö shop is now standing, near Saarisilta-bridge and S-Market.
In the 1970’s, the name of the business was changed to “Topi-Kalustaja”. It quickly became the third biggest manufacturer of kitchen cabinets in Finland.
In 2002, the name of the business was changed to “Topi-Keittiöt”. The same Ojala family still runs the business.
