An old cowshed turned into an art gallery and atelier.
Gallery Kivitupa is a private atelier and art gallery in the middle of the scenic countryside landscapes of Heikkilänmäki. It belongs to the artist Sanna Pauliina Heikkilä.
The original owners of the Heikkilä farm and Jokitalo house were Juho and Eeva Sofia Heikkilä. They built the cowshed in 1905, using drill stones. Later on, the cowshed got a new life as an art gallery. The gallery is located downstairs and the atelier upstairs.
The double-sided drill stone walls are left uncovered, as well as the floor which is actually just smooth bedrock.
The drill stones are remains of a stone quarry that used to be located near the farm. There are also a few stone tools on display in the gallery from those times.
