Welcome to Fiia’s Cabin!
This tiny little house is a well-preserved example of a local humble abode, from the early days of the 1900’s. The cabin was repaired and opened to the public in 2010.

By researching old maps of the Plassi area, Fiia’s cabin can be seen standing on this spot at least in the year 1912 – but it might even be older than this.
The cabin might have originally belonged to a fisherman or sawmill worker – or it might have also been a shop. Nevertheless, it is known by its long-term owner: Fiia Lepistö.
After her son died, Fiia lived in the cabin alone for a long time.
After Fiia, the house was a home to a family who worked at the local sawmill – all the way up to the 1960’s. The cabin had two other owners before it was gifted to the Fishing Museum in the 1980’s.
These days the Fishing Museum and Fiia’s Cabin form a collective, unique museum destination, that showcases the local ways of life.
